Just been refused credit

Bit of a rant . Just been refused credit as Orange EE have wrongly put a default notice on the credit record . They tried to continue wrongly to take payment then sent a letter saying I owed 3 months . I called to try to resolve this and was being faffed around . This was eventually sorted there end middle JULY and I didn't have to pay anything . I have email record . I have just been refused credit in a shop (for a mobile contract if it matters)I have never had a blip on my credit ever . I was embarrassed and angry to be honest . Just wondering how difficult EE could be in getting this off my credit record .
 hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world

Hi,
If you haven't already I would recommend getting a copy of your credit report as you will be able to see if EE have removed the default or if it still shows.
If the default still shows on your file then it's going to cause you some issues with getting credit (as you've discovered) so if they have admitted it's their error I would make a formal complaint requesting they remove the default from your file asap.I am a Mortgage BrokerYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Broker, so you need to take my word for it.

... and see what compo you can get out them (EE). YET another example of the dysfunctional credit reporting industry.0

They've been back to me as I sent an email last night . full of the sorrys and said they will address it within 72hrs and the default will be off within 3 weeks . I went on Experian before I posted here as I was clueless why I got refused . Even though my record showed 790 last time was 900 . Its a £20 a month phone deal . not the biggest purchase . I have always been PAYG but I wanted a bit of tinternet and a better signal . The default I was given was for my DD who was 15 at the time . her 2 yr was up and in the dec . I cancelled in the end of oct and paid in full until the end of the 2yr . Then cancelled the Direct debit . in Jan . Don't want compo an apology is good enough . lets hope it gets sorted . Thanks everyone . hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0

This type of issue is all too common with telecoms companies, sadly. I've also had a poor experience when I migrated from T-Mobile to EE.
The whole thing was a fiasco from the start and at one stage, my credit file was badly affected by their incompetence. The issue was eventually resolved. See these threads:

If you exhaust the usual complaint routes and receive no positive outcome from your latest contact with EE, you can do what I did and email the executive office at EE:
executive.office@ee.co.uk
Also copy in their CEO Olaf Swantee at:
olaf.swantee@ee.co.uk
Also worth reading this very useful resource:
http://eecomplaints.co.uk/make-a-complaint
This should get their attention hopefully and a quicker resolution should be forthcoming.
Good luck!0
