I'm glad you finally know, the mixed emotions are normal I'd say. It's the best thing for Ryan to know for sure in the long run.

  • Glad you have the confirmation now Snags - Ryan still Ryan and you're still his lovely mum! Don't know if you read much but The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nightime is a story (fiction) about a boy with Aspergers and received rave reviews and a couple of awards, might be worth a look.
    Take care honey.

Dont forget Freaks, Geeks and Asbergers by Luke Jackson. Luke has Asbergers himself, and wrote the book to help other children, but the book seems to help adults as much, if not more.

My tutor recommended I read it to help me help a boy in school.

    It might help hun ;)

    Hello lovely people! :)

Sorry I haven't replied to your lovely messages until now, Natasha wont go to sleep, little monkey. She's in a happy mood though, so it's quite nice, but it's impossible to type with her on my knee because she hits the keyboard and the keys fall off! (the PgUp, spacebar and D keys are already a bit broken).

Keren - Um.....I would have some cake.....but.....er......:o.....it seems to have all gone.....:o :o :rotfl:

Lenny, glad to hear your son is doing well. It takes such a long time to get a diagnosis, but I hope it will help Ryan.

We have discussed it briefly with Ryan, just to make sure he understood that he wasn't 'sick', but didn't make a huge thing of it. We will gradually talk more to him about it over the coming weeks but don't want to overwhelm him with information all in one go.

We read a book to him about Aspergers Syndrome a while ago, and when I told him today that he had it, he said 'Of course, I already knew that because I am exactly like that boy in the book we read with the blue cover'! :D

He is so cool! :A :)
