Hanging a blind - hitting metal when drilling wall

You say the hole is 2cm deep? I would cut the rawl plug down and use a shorter screw - it'll be fine!1

google 'sugru'. I used this to fit my blind, works great.1

Or, if you can drill a large diameter hole in the lintel use a cavity toggle type fixing.
Try one of these: -

That certainly does look like great material... but I'm not sure how I'd use it to fix blinds?
The blinds I have are very heavy. The one in the lounge is going across a 2 metre window. It must weigh at least 15kg. The others weigh about 10kg. How would I use 'sugru' to attach these blinds.
Regarding the lounge blind, the window recess has allowed me to fix the box brackets on the inside vertical faces left and right. But, because it's such a wide span there are centre brackets that need to be fitted to the top inside face of the recess to stop the blind sagging. I'm hitting metal trying to fix these. Contact adhesive (no more nails etc) will not support the weight these brackets need to carry.
On the other window recesses I'm hitting metal on the vertical surfaces and the top surface. Strange as I would have thought that if it were the lintel then I'd only hit it at the top, not at the sides as in the lounge?
Really appreciate your help guys... I'm sure I'll get there eventually.
Just annoying that a simple job has turned into something bigger.0 -
That second item you've linked to requires an 18mm hole. That really is serious drilling in a steel lintel.0

Thanks to all who posted and helped with this.
My nephew came round and helped me hang the blinds. It seemed that everywhere you tried to drill a hole you got a different result... hitting metal, concrete, plasterboard crumbling etc etc. Had to use about 4 different types of fixings in different holes. In one hole the rawlplug went in and then the screw and as soon as pressure was put on it the whole rawlplug and screw disappeared into the wall!
Turns out my neighbour had the same problems with his blinds.
Anyway, done and dusted now. The blinds look great.

Hi mate major thread re-start - can you please share what methods you used? I'm I the same position as you where at some points I hit metal after 1cm of drilling. Absolutely frustrated.
