Camera insurance for trip to Singapore

My son is going to Singapore to visit a friend next week and wants to take his high end Canon DSLR and lens.
Most travel insurance seems to have quite a low single item cover (eg £350), but he needs about £2500 worth. The type of insurance I have found on the net relates to annual cover rather than cover for a one off trip.
Any recommendations for way of insuring his photographic equipment?

If he lives at home, then extend the Home Contents insurance to provide cover abroad. If he lives elsewhere then cheapest option will be Home Contents where he lives. The cover is normally called personal possessions , is an extension to Contents cover to cover items taken away from home, including abroad. It will be cheaper to add to the policy permanently, rather than as a one off.
If he wants totally separate insurance, then Google ' gadget insurance'.
Or some Travel Insurers can increase personal effects cover e.g PJ Hayman. The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.0 -

Hi huckster,
Many thanks for your advice. Just checked with my home contents insurer provider and he's cover under our policy. Phew!0 -

It would be prudent to record the serial numbers and take photos of the camera equipment.
This can greatly help if he needs to claim.
Make sure you read any restrictions on leaving possessions unattended and any restrictions. It may well be the camera is not covered if placed in hold luggage but would be covered if hand luggage etc0
