Paying Salary into someone's Account

I have been told by my new employer that I have to get my salary paid into an account with my own name . I would like to pay my salary into a family member's account with a different surname . Is there anyway for my employer to find out that the account is not in my name if I choose to give them this other account number ?

  • The payee on the account will not be you. That is a required field.

The payee field is not usually checked - as long as sort code and account no match it should go through.

However, they are trying to cover themselves from a money laundering perspective as there are stiff penalties.

I'd be careful about trying to decieve your employer - it could jeopardise the job.

Can you not have it paid into an account in your name and transfer it yourself?

Why do you want to do this?
  • OP If you are overdrawn at your own bank and scared your wages being swallowed up by the overdraft you are left with 2 alternatives,
1 Talk to the bank and come to an arrangement with them, or 2 open a new account with a different bank.

By putting your wages through a 3rd party account you are putting them at risk of having their account closed.
