Vancouver used to be the most livable city in the world but has now been outvoted by melbourne.
Melbourne is beautiful :jtravelover0 -
I have just come back from Perth and it was lovely so I can see why it came high up the list. Housing is so cheap and is sprouting up everywhere. You can get a really nice 3 bedroom house with double garage for less than £80k.
Petrol is almost half the price of UK (and they moan about it which is fairly amusing!!) and most products are cheaper too.
It's clean, no-one throws litter, there is a tiny amount of graffiti and the trains are plentiful and clean.
Couldn't ask for better really.Ken Livingstone is my mother0 -
Looks more like a list of the most boring places in the world to live (with the exception of Sydney)!!!0

Nothing boring about Stockholm - Only drawback is the cost of beer!
- Dop, ex-pat in Sweden!

"Nothing boring about Stockholm - Only drawback is the cost of beer!"
Reminds me of a trip I made around the Carlesberg Brewery in Copenhagen, many years ago. The Guide was telling us how critical it was to brew the beer at the right temperature and that if it got too low or too high that particular brew would be ruined. " So you'd have to throw the whole lot away" one of our group commented. "No" said the Guide "we bottle it up and sell it to the Swedes" Still makes me laugh each time I remember it!0 -

Sounds about right, that's why all the Swede's get the ferry to Denmark every week to buy (and drink) beer

I can understand why expats love these cities as they always figure in annual surveys of the top 20 places to live for quality of life. Some people may find them boring because the don't have high crime, high polution, high population density, millions of cars per square mile, dirty streets, and do have plenty of space, nice houses on a quarter arce sections with easy access to beautiful beaches.0

Makes you wonder why we're not all packing, doesn't it?

Seems to be pattern emerging (in my opinion). All the places are either Australia (would visit but never live there!), Canada (would live there) and the Baltic type countries (never been).
I wonder why there is no New Zealand in the list as this must be the one of the most beautiful countries in the world with minimal griffit, no litter or dog mess and a relaxed way of life with non of the problems that the UK seems to have and would move there is possible. Saying that the UK may have it's problems but it aint all that bad. No UK cities I see aswell!**BERTIE**Did you Know: It costs more than £325,000 a day to run the lifeboat service? (with no government funding) Please donate to the RNLI0 -
I'd quite happily live in Sydney. Being able to see the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge when I wanted to would make me feel so warm (been to Sydney twice, LOVED it!).
However, if I HAD to I could also live in Geneva. On the border of France for good food and wine, and in one of the cleanest countries ever, with a beautiful lake and fantastic mountains............. but up the road is Lausanne which is just divine.
Alternatively, I'll stick with Blighty and visit these places on holidays. If I was given a visa for Oz tomorrow I'd be off like a shot. Apparently they're crying out for plumbers out there (ditto here!) and you're practically on the next plane out there if you're willing to emigrate! Sadly they're not desperate for trainee teachers..........
