Incidentally - is there any other way to isolate the feeds other than those two valves just above the bath level?

If no - consider what happens if/when the shower valve needs to be changed/serviced.

  • The leaking bits are the left and right connections into valve. Valve side rather than pipe side.

I first used a few turns of ptfe tape and leaked. Was recommended gas tape as thicker just diud one to two turns of this going by instructions written on it. Still drips.

Yes I only put the isolators there as I didn't do all the he pipoe work in one go and put isolators where the pipe ended. Should reasllky put isolators into the loft. These isolators are redundent now, they don't stop water going into shower just stop going to bath.

Not big deal really tho, doesn't take long to empty system as its a combined. That's what I'm doing atm when retry sorting valves

Well if you can then put iso's in the loft - I always use full bore ones. Also remove the redundant ones - they're only reducing the flow.

With regard to the threaded connections a dozen turns should be enough - make sure it tightens up progressively and doesn't get to a 'stop' point - very difficult to describe, but if you feel you've hit the bottom of the thread then the thread isn't taking the pinch and you're likely to leak.

As others may have suggested, loktite thread is also a pretty foolproof way to do it, but I've never had to ;)

  • Well even loctite thread didn't work.
Only thing left to try before paying someone is washers

You don't fit washers on these . It's a tapered threaded fitting .

Are you winding the loctite clockwise pulling tightly into the thread ? 15 turns over 3/4 of the thread should seal it perfect

Have you checked the valve to make sure you have not split the brass?

On the compression side , only PTFE the olive face by a couple of turns . Do not do the thread as your just stretching the fitting
Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure
  • I had someone look at it who is doing some other work and they said manufacturing fault . will try to return as bought online from bath empire
  • Wohoo he got it ok. The manufacturers did something dodgy but he managed to sort it. It wasn't me just being stupid on my first shower install so I should be ok next time (property developer)

Thank you everyone for all your suggestions they have definitely giving more of an incite if I have problems in the future
