An obvious issue with the current PP system is you can shop, generate a PP voucher and return the items that generated the PP yet still use the PP voucher itself as the receipt does not (to my knowledge) show a PP was generated. I am not suggesting people do this as I am not sure of the legality and the stores woyld likely be wise to people constantly returning items, but the current system does not physically stop this kind of abuse from what I can see (A instore APG does, sort of, by requiring signing the physical receipt).
Just my thoughts and only just occurred to me with the JD giving a £10 voucher - this may be prevented by the new system depending on how the returns policy works.

Flip, never thought of that!
Then again if I took a bottle of JD into my house, it would vanish! My 6 bottles from Tesco's mystery box has all disappeared... and not a drop has passed my lips (children should come with a warning.. that they grow up, never leave home, and will eat and drink you out of house and home!)

Lots of other interesting threads in the link below to post on too, and we can all post on any of them if we wish. Feel free to have a browse.

Bang goes my theory - or rather, if it did match it would generate a £10 PP.
I am sure people see the point I was making (not suggesting this is what people have been doing, just thinking out loud).

Lots of people have been doing that from day 1, It has been mentioned on here a few times, but after people gave negative feedback the people doing it kept quiet.
I've never done it but I have thought of doing it, bit late now tho0 -

I read through the NI Brand Guarantee t&cs last night and re returns they seem no different to the current PP ones.
My main concern* would be for the normal shopper who returns something that's worth more than the BG refund they got at the till. Will they give a refund of value minus BG amount.
What if the item had no effect on the BG amount? (Was NA or same price elsewhere)
What if the item was dearer elsewhere are actually decreased the BG refund?
* because it's tesco and their t&cs seem to be open to staff training/ individual interpretation/manager say so.
