  • We're going to trade so no fancy costumes for us. Really looking forward to it, we've only heard good things so far. It's about a 2 hour drive, so going to be a long weekend. At another event in Swindon the weekend after, so no carboots for us until mid-October.

    Honestly where has September gone?

Took me three attempts to learn how to quote on the new forum layout... :rotfl:
What is it you sell there? DS is going with 2 friends, he enjoys looking round all the stalls too!

    Goodnight FC :)

Yes, I'm looking for identical bottles :o

Mrs Munqui has been rather poorly, 10 days in hozzy fighting infections/antibiotics which screwed her blood sugar levels up and gave her ketoacidosis :(

She's been out a couple of days but is still not 100%

Other than that family is fine, kids can be a pain but what else would you expect from a 2.5yr old and a 6month teething baby :o

Your poor wife. Having recently been in hospital for 7 days myself with a raging infection I can totally sympathise with how she must be feeling. Hope she gets better soon.
    Morning all :)

Thanks again for everyone's advice, it has made me realise I need to sort out a medicine cabinet as I had nothing .

As I tried to lie down last night and lay on the poorly side with my face on the bottle I had this really strong and painful pulsating pain followed my what felt like a load of blood coming out the tooth and I don't remember anything else and woke up this morning pain free :) strange

Sorry to hear mrs munqui has been poorly and hope she is on the mend soon x

Glad you're pain free this morning, but as someone else said, definitely get it checked in case it was an abscess and pus draining (gross!!).

The kids and I went to a photographer tonight. It was really good fun. The photographer is a man I met through work. He does photography classes for us. He's a total nutter, in the nicest possible way and these weren't your normal posed photos :D I'm really looking forward to seeing the finished ones.

We all went and had a photoshoot on Wednesday night, we took our labradoodle with us, had some great fun with him and the photographer has said he has got some really great shots, cant wait to see them.

From the 5th October, if you would rather have your online shopping supplied in plastic bags you will need to request them during the checkout process, and a compulsory charge of 40p will be added to your order total to cover the charge of the bags used for your groceries. It is important for us to let you know that we will be donating all proceeds from the 40p charge, less VAT, to charities and good causes across England.
  • I think today Udi's have totally left us all. I can see no sight of them in any supermarket logged in or out today. I was a bit early deciding they'd gone last week & offering up my RIP but it seems they may have finally finished now - unless someone can tell us differently? Have they been discontinued by Udi? Can't see why, as it should have been one of their most popular lines?

Well, that scuppers my CC up totally. It looks like now I will have to wait until Wednesday to do a CC or finally say goodbye to CC's?

Unfortunately I have to drag myself out of the house today as no milk, no bread, little fruit & veg in house. I need frozen spinach for my nutribullet - tastes the same in a bullet & far easier/cheaper than fresh. Hope they have it somewhere as it always seems to be the first of the frozen veggies to disappear from most stores this time of year.

I think I also need to go to Aldi as they have 1lt of UHT semi skimmed milk for 49p. Not sure if they always carry this? If the dates are OK I'll buy a dozen or more - it REALLY helps to always have milk in the house in case my hands/shoulders play up & I can't drive. I always have a couple of dozen in the house over winter - in case we get snowed in again.

I must go get my prescription for more painkillers for my 'diabetic neuropathy' which I'm sure I haven't got as my sugar levels are good, well under control.

I think this item is good value (assuming it compares this way), namely the following:

ASDA Chosen by You Freshly Frozen Button Sprouts (1Kg)

    Today's best prices
    Store_2.15px.png
    £1.00 10p / 100g

    Store_1.15px.png
    80p

This is not in the 'savvy buys' as they represent 30% or more off (which often isn't good enough for me:rotfl:) but, even if something isn't at least 30% off, it doesn't mean it's not good. The Sprouts have been down to 75p before - however this was quite some time ago and this is now the best I've seen since. (A were 80p themselves a few weeks ago, but this is now, possibly, 80p and 10% off.)

I've found an item that I think is good value:D.

As for the actual product, I think sprouts themselves are a "love them or hate them" item. Personally I'm neutral about them:rotfl:. No, I do like sprouts, they're good. Though I know others can't stand them - and, for some, including me, they're the essential staple of every Christmas lunch (gosh we're nowhere near there yet!:rotfl:).
:eek:Christmas - already?!? Sprouts are pretty much like cooked turkey now though - no longer just for Christmas but consumed all year round.

Even the taxman (or woman;)) gets his/her share from the new carrier bag charges.

    ......
Personally I'm doing the contrary to the policy aim - namely stocking up on carrier bags every time I go to a shop now so that I can create more waste:eek:. Well, not actually, I will reuse them but (you get the picture) it does rather defeat the aim. I think this is a bit like the unintended consequences of a policy where - many decades ago - they introduced licences for "dangerous" animals, such as snakes and big cats and people were releasing their animals into the wild rather than keeping them and having them licensed. The whole aim was to avoid harm to people whom the animals would attack etc. and have ownership controlled but, prior to the new law (this is decades and decades ago), it caused the unintended consequence as people would get rid of their animals, precisely the opposite of what the law was intended to do.

So, stock up on your carrier bags for free whilst you can do so now! I know - totally environmentally unfriendly.

EDIT: Here's an 'interesting' article about this (the (unreliable?) source, kind of, for the above):
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unintended_consequences
For example ("Perverse results"), "The British government, concerned about the number of venomous cobra snakes in Delhi, offered a bounty for every dead cobra. This was a successful strategy as large numbers of snakes were killed for the reward, but eventually enterprising people began to breed cobras for the income. When the government became aware of this, the reward program was scrapped, causing the cobra breeders to set the now-worthless snakes free. As a result, the wild cobra population further increased. The apparent solution for the problem made the situation even worse. (Cobra effect)"

I actually support carrier bag charges and the aim for them. Of course, Wales/Scotland/Northern Ireland have already had charges for various periods of time. However, in England, we are now temporarily in this short period in which, potentially, the aim is not achieved, instead the opposite.
