    I want to move my new modem into another room some distance from the newly fitted wallsocket recently fitted by BT?


    if this is what you are going to do , then yes I have done similar , BT twin socket fitted , phone in one ext lead in the other , talk talk fibre modem in the next room , no loss of signal

    Yes, the cable supplied is too short to where I need to locate my router, hence the cable listed in the post.

    basically the cable supplied is going to be too short. Because, the BT Socket is nowhere near the power socket

    No, because it would mean plugging an extension lead into another extension lead.

    Maybe just make a long extension lead.
  • hang on are you talking about an extension mains lead or what , if the OP plugs that lead into the BT master , moves the modem into the next room , close to the TV or PC , plugs that wire in and the mains lead , job done

    In theory that would work, but using long phone cables can affect the speed and stability of the connection, which is why its recommended to have the router close to the socket.

    5m shouldn't make too much difference thou, especially on fibre.
    just make sure the cable is of good quality
