Hello All,
I've got a question about Ikea bed frames and standard mattresses.
I'm wanting to buy a bed, with the idea being that the majority of the money goes on a decent mattress. We've found the mattress we want, its a standard double bed mattres, 4'6" I guess, or we could get it in King size - 5'.
But the bed frame we would like is from Ikea, who i've noticed dont seem to make bed frames in standard sizes, my question is, do you know if its possible to use a standard mattress in an ikea frame? if so, do you know what sizes corrospond?
I just cant get my head round it, and i'm normally quite good with numbers!
Thanks

ikea kingsize is about 5'3 and a couple of inches longer than standard so you would have a small gap all round - depends if you could live with that or not.'We're not here for a long time, we're here for a good time0

If you buy a bed from IKEA, you have to buy their mattress to get the right fit.
They ain't stupid !0 -
IIRC Ikea do make them in standard sizes, it's just the European standard sizes0

I bought an IKEA bed & mattress - never again! The bed fell to bits in under 2 years and the (foam) mattress was like sleeping on a brick.
As far as I can remember, the sizes are slightly different, it depends on your style of bed, but it's nothing major. A little gap is certainly worth a quality mattress. Your back will thank you!0 -
The sizes are different, and the quality of the ikea mattresses are terrible. So you would probably be best searching for a similar bed in a UK size.0
