Hi Folks
I have recently been in hospital for three months and been on ssp since the middle of march 2015 but my ssp is due to run out and I don't know what I would be entitled to when it does, has anybody got any advice on what could be available to me.

Do you:
- rent?
- have a working partner?
- savings over 6k / 16k?
- have children?
If you've worked in the last 2 years, you should be entitled to contributions based ESA for which you need a fit / sick note for.
If you have any care and /or mobility needs which have lasted for 3 months and expect them to last another 9 months, you may be entitled to PIP, which you can claim as well as ESA.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

Assuming you are still sick when SSP ends you need to put an application in for ESA. You can actually put the claim in in advance of SSP ending once your employer provides a form SSP1 which confirms the end date of SSP.
Actual entitlement will depend on your personal circumstances as outlined by Indie Kid0 -
You may also be able to claim council tax support. The rules vary by area. My council for example, won't give you any council support if you have any savings over £6k and you have to pay I think it's 20% a week, regardless of your situation.
If you rent, you can put in a claim for council tax support at the same time.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked
