Look for a pruning saw.
You mean like this:

For hedging, I use an ordinary first fix saw like this:
Often two for a tenner in B&Q.
It won't go into the gap between some stems on coppiced trees, so I still carry a pruning saw, but I know which I prefer when hedge-laying.
For pruning saws, it is better to pay a bit extra for a good one, like the Silky. Some are rubbishy things with wobbly handles.0 -

Is it really that sharp?
You can probably tell I'm not a gardener. I have no idea. I actually have visions of hacking through stuff for hours on end with anything that isn't a chainsaw. :rotfl:
With the small teeth on a hacksaw, you might be, but a pruning saw has vicious, sharp teeth and will easily slice through branches.0 -
You said approx 2 inch branches, nothing about felling a tree. Plus if you are cutting the top off a tree, a mechanical saw can be very dangerous if its above shoulder height. Can you seriously cut through a tree with that?
