when a company like Foxton charges you 420pounds for printing a piece of paper and checking your credit score (disguised as a vague "administration" fees), and 60pounds for EACH late payment letter they send you, that IS a rip off, as they're obviously making a huge profit off these fees (and those are only 2 of the most ridiculous fees they charge). And yes, we all need a home, and the market is so competitive, there's not much choice for tenants. This is a systemic problem that needs to be addressed.
I once viewed the most hideous and outrageously expensive studio flats with Foxton, and the woman in the end told me "so just so you know, admin fees are 420 pounds, they're high because we do everything in-house". Implicitly "unlike other real estate agencies". Sounds like bs to me..0 -
