Hi,
I want to switch with this deal, but just want to confirm one thing:
I understand if I move home I'll lose the deal, but will I have to pay the £60 penalty if I stay with E.ON in my new home on a different deal?
Also, I'm due to go on holiday in about two weeks for approx. three weeks, so I won't be home to give a meter reading at the normal switching date. Will I be able to request a later switching date with the collective deal? Or is there another way I could arrange things
Thanks!

    Hi Yamor

Eon have told us that they don't charge exit fees if you leave them contract early due to a property move, it only applies to change of supplier.

It isn't possible to delay a switch date, but if you're not around Eon will agree an estimated read with your old provider. It might be worth taking a read and providing to your old provider shortly before you go away, as this should help to ensure any estimate it fairly accurate.

    I hope this helps.

    Hi Yamor

Just to confirm Dan's advice, we don't charge an exit fee if you move home. It's only for a change of supplier.

Also, if you're not around to give us meter readings, we'll estimate based on past usage. Initially, this information comes from the annual usage you enter at the time of the switch. This is backed up by data received from a central organisation used by all suppliers. As part of the switching process, they send us the Estimated Annual Consumption for the property. I agree with Dan, to keep things as accurate as possible, let your current supplier have a reading as near as possible to when you go away.

When it comes to moving home, if you let us have the details we'll make sure the account's closed properly. Readings and a forwarding address would be great. Similarly, if we supply the new property, tell us about this too. We've a specialist Home Moves team who'll be happy to sort this for you. Or, if you prefer, there's an online form you can use.

Totally understand the stress involved when moving so hope this helps and that the move goes smoothly. Have a great holiday.

Are there any energy suppliers who charge cuistomers on a residential tariff early exit fees if they move home?
None that I am aware of.

What is possibly unique about Eon, or at least unusual, is that they will waive early exit fees if you simply change tariff with them.

I'm not sure how this works, as by the sounds of it, anyone who is remaining at their address but would like to switch supplier but is hesitant to do so because they are on an Eon tariff with early exit fees, then they could contact Eon and change to Eon's standard variable tariff (that they call Energy Plan). As I understand it, there will be no early exit fees for this transfer of tariff, and then as this tariff has no early exit fees itself, the customer can then switch to any supplier they wish without incurring any early exit fee. :money:

(The only downside is that you will have 3-5 weeks on a probably slightly more expensive tariff, but probably would cost less than any early exit fee that would otherwise be imposed for a direct switch of supplier)

If this is correct, and enough people did it, I wonder how long it would be until Eon followed EDF's lead and scrapped early exit fees entirely?
