As some of you may know, I'm moving half way across the country in just under two weeks time. My OH has a transfer in his current job lined up to start immediately, but I still haven't found anything and I'm not convinced we can live off his salary alone (in fact I know we can't), let alone carry on paying off debts at our current rate.
I've got shedloads of applications I need to fill in this week, but most don't even interview until mid September , and even assuming I get one of them, we could still be two months without any money from my side- there's a real danger we could end up undoing all the good DFW work we've done.
So does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can start earning some sort of money, quickly, to keep our heads above water?
I have registered with a temping agency but not sure how quick off the mark that will be.
Ideas? Please???!
Thanks.

I know it's not much, but how about avon or betterware, even party plan like ann summers, pippa dee or the like. It would help you to get to know more about the area and you would get to meet people.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member # 593 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts!0

Ring the Council where you're moving to & ask if they have a casual's list you can register on - like a temp agency but direct for the council.
Register with as many agencies as you can - Hays are good.
What area are you moving to, if you don't mind me asking?0 -

Cardiff.
I guess I was naive but I sort of thought I would have found some sort of work by now so I've ended up panicking a bit! I will definetly ring the council - my current job is Local Govt., so hopefully that would help me along a bit."People who "do things" exceed my endurance,

How about bar, hotel, kitchen work? This is usually available pretty much everywhere and is normally an immediate start.
It may not be what you are looking for long term, but it may suit as a stop gap.

When you get there (if you're not sorted by then) look around in the local shops and see if they need any staff, small shops often have notices up by the till.
Register with as many different agencies as you can to spread your net.
What about babysitting or dogwalking for money? You could put up a notice in the post office or local newsagent offering your services. Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

I've thought about trying to get a bar job (I did work in a bar a few years ago so have experience) - could that be the way to go?
I do use the survey sites yes - mystery shopping isn't really an option for me as I don't have a car (have looked into this)"People who "do things" exceed my endurance,

http://www.jobsincardiff.org.uk/ try here if you havent already seen it.
To be honest theres not a lot you can do right now. Why not post up your CV on monster or reed. I know my employer ( sadly we are in london and crying out for people!) used reed to recruit people in my team.
Lots of agencies wont even consider registering you unless you are physically sat in front of them wanting to work then they can do all the typing tests etc.
jobcentreplus website also excellent. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
Reed have my CV now!!!
I might try Monster, though to be honest last time I looked I just found it really confusing and gave up!"People who "do things" exceed my endurance,

Hi fuchsia
Try not to worry too much. Every time I've registered with temp agencies I've been offered work really quickly. Hope it works out fine for you.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620
