Hello.
I have done a search, but can't find recent threads about using Calibre.
DH and I both bought kindles some years ago. Mine is dying and I would like to use an alternative to Amazon, but of course still want to share books he has bought. The books I buy just for me seem cheaper on both Nook and Kobo.
.
I tried Calibre to read kindle books on my tablet about 4 years ago and found it slow, clunky and the results patchy.
Does anyone have recent experience of downloading kindle books to Calibre for reading on either Nook or Kobo?
Thanks

Can you not use Calibre to convert the book to a different format such as epub and then use a different reader?

I have a kobo and often have the free books from Kindle, put them through Calibre and load them to my Kobo with no problem. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0

I have downloaded hundreds of books from Amazon - and thousands of others too - and converted using Calibre for both the Nook and the Kobo without any problem.
Calibre is a great, versatile tool.0 -

Calibre is pretty powerful and it's perhaps worth trying to read some of the help files if you find it slow and clunky. Just convert your books to epub format (you might need to remove DRM first to do so) for reading on your Kobo. Don't get a Nook as it only has a small part of it's storage reserved for non-Kobo books.
For reading on a tablet, Cool Reader and Moon+ Reader & Mantano are amongst the most popular.0 -
If you use Moon+ on a tablet you shouldn't need to do much converting as it reads all the main formats (assuming no DRM).0

Ive only had good experiences with Calibre although I have only started to read 1 book I used Calibre to convert.0
