O/S Daily Wednesday 9th September 2015
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine
Morning everyone
Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x
Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.
Now light, dull, overcast and wet underfoot although not raining at the moment. Still feels chilly too.
DH and gone to work stupid early. DS1 now getting ready for work. DS2 still in his pit but I’ll wake him shortly so he can get ready for school.
Dinner last night was chicken goujons, vegetable rice, noodles, and stuffed peppers, ice cream for those that wanted some. Tonight will be LO’s from Sundays roast, I’ll need to act some extras’s to bulk it out, but there’s a packet of sausages that need using up and there’s not enough meat to go round, I’ll be able to make enough – I’m sure no-one will starve!
Work yesterday was steady although it did ease off in the afternoon, so not sure what today will bring, only working until lunchtime then on days’ off. I have a dentist appointment this afternoon, I hate the dentist, so just need to get it done, only a check up but still get myself worked up over it!
Have several chores to do when I get back, so it’ll be a busy afternoon.
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
Dry and overcast again, yesterday's gloom didn't really lift so not a lot of sunshine but warm all the same. Today will probably be the same.
DD giving me a lift to work and she's going to Sheffield to see grandparents for a couple of days so I will be coming home on the train. Train for the next few days too. Hopefully she will time it right to pick me up on the way home on Friday. We need to pick up the van on Friday so we can move all her furniture in.
Friendly builder was up at her flat last night to change the lock and put another one on, makes her feel safer and I'm happier too. She also had a Tesc0 delivery arrive while we were there so there is now food in!
Didn' get in till gone 9 last night, had a McDs for tea about 8.30 and suffered all night, wont be doing that again!
WM on, DW not got enough in till later. Managed to mop all the downstairs floors between work and DDs and the 'blind' man is coming later to put up the living room blinds - nearly there with that room, new sofas arriving on Saturday.
Hope you all have a lovely day. Take care. XX0 -
Morning everyone.
It's warm already but very cloudy. Yesterday turned out to be lovely eventually.
Just before my visitors arrived I decided to put my car in the barn but managed to scrape it against the door. Huge marks on the passenger back door. I thought I was wearing my contact lenses and wasn't!
Luckily I was given the name of a retired man about eight miles away who does re spraying in his back garden. When I got there he managed to polish away the scrapes completely though he'll need it back later to get the dent out. Huge relief all round.
Visitors were great, gave me loads of advice about the garden which I really appreciated.
My order of merino thermals arrived and I am so pleased with them. Last years expensive silk set were too too thin and 'mean', OK for wearing but I didn't really feel they added much warmth. Others I found were polyester which I find horrible next to my skin so I am delighted with the fine knit wool. Hopefully the winter won't be as fierce this year but I am prepared.
Right, I need to move myself. Got a 10.00am appointment in town and have my two hour teaching session to do tonight.
Hope everyone has a good day. TA - thinking of you and your OH.0 -
Good morning everyone
It's bright and a bit chilly here this morning. Hubby has gone off to work and the girls are faffing about as usual. I managed to get more sleep last night so I feel a lot more human today.
My new washing machine was delivered and installed yesterday. So far I am very impressed with it, I especially like the count down on the display so I can see how much longer the programme will run. The delivery men were very professional and friendly so I didn't get too stressed either.
I will be making a scone based pizza for the girls after school and a pasta bake for tea. They come home absolutely famished especially DD14 who refuses to take lunch. We don't eat dinner until hubby comes home at around 6.15 so they have something to keep them going.
TA, I hope it went ok at the hospital and you got some answers.
wealthygirl, many congratulations on your Silver Wedding yesterday, quite an achievement these days.
Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx0 -

Scampi's paw is healing well and he's not limping now. I'll keep cleaning it for a few more days but doesn't like it, he seems to prefer to sort himself out. Gers I think the book should be called How Not To Train Your Dog with a sub-title of Learn From My Mistakes. Blurb – What to do for hilarious and sometimes disastrous results :rotfl:
Master tru has registered as an employer with HMRC. He was doing it online and getting stressed with it so I took over then realised where his stress was coming from. I got so far then it kept taking me to a page where you're registering for self-employment. I shouted at the laptop then gave up and rang the phone number. Got it sorted in the end and he just has to wait for the paperwork now. I needed wineIt's the tax office, he was registering to give them money – you'd think they'd be happy about that so why do they make it so difficult? lol
I have a very attractive stye on my left eye. It's on the inside of my upper eyelid and has swollen up very nicelyIt's incredibly itchy, I'm sat here pressing a cold wet flannel on it for a bit of relief. Hope it doesn't last long.
My hip (well, the muscles around it) are very stiff and achy when I wake up, so I want to make a rice bag. I'll be heating it in the microwave – it won't explode will it?Is it safe to just put it on for a minute on high?

Hi everyone,
I'm feeling very tired today so I think I need a lazy day to recoup, otherwise I'll really be knocked out. How I envy those people (DH) who seem to be able to keep going on and on and then bounce back after a night's sleep.
Talking of sleep I dreamed that I could see perfectly last night without my glasses (I have very poor eyesight - so poor I qualify for free eye tests every year) it was a bit of a disappointment to wake up.
DD is also feeling tired and her neck is a bit sore so I'm a bit worried about her but I think she is aware that she needs to be very careful at the moment.
TA, thinking of you, I hope it went ok at the hospital.0 -
Good morning - hope everyone is well? The twins went back to school yesterday. They are now in the 6th form so everything is slightly different as they in a different building to the main school and get extra privileges to the other pupils so they came home quite impressed.
I'm busy getting back into a routine around the house and blitzing all those places that got a little messy during the chaos of the very long holidays. Today I'm tackling the bathroom, just having a quick coffee break then back to work.
Have a good day everyone x0
