Do I need undercoat over primer?

Hi,
I have newly plastered walls. I already painted them with a primer for newly plastered walls. I want to apply silk emulsion paint. I was wondering if I can directly use it over primer. Does primer act as undercoat or should I use undercoat before silk emulsion?
thanks for your help in advance.

Defnitily use an undercoat, it will be a far better finish in the long run......make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
You generally don’t need to apply an undercoat for emulsion paint for basic redecorating work. It’s usually only necessary where you are painting over a much darker colour, in which case you simply apply an obliterating coat of white matt emulsion. Your primer is probably a milky white colour, so that would be a good base to emulsion over.
Check the paint can: you are unlikely to see an instruction from the manufacturers to undercoat ahead of applying emulsion.0 -
No such thing as an undercoat for emulsion. Not even a primer is requied just 20% thinned contract emulsion for a mist coat.Silk is not ideal for new plaster but If you do use it just apply a 10% thinned coat of contract emulsion on your primed walls first, then apply the silk emulsion on to this0
