Moving a plug socket out of cooker's exclusion zone

Just to provide an update:
We checked with a local engineer that disconnecting the plug, removing the fuse for the cooker's electrical circuit and blanking off the plate with stainless steel would make it non-combustible and therefore compliant with best practice. They confirmed this.
We'll then re-route the washing machine's power needs to a plug that is slightly further away.
We have an electrician coming to do the above later in the week - estimated price of £45 excl. materials.
We did look at eye-level grill cookers but honestly the choice is shocking and the reviews of those that are available aren't great. Plus, if we eventually move, a standard free-standing cooker will offer a lot more flexibility in subsequent kitchens than an eye-level grill cooker.0 -
