Canon MG3550 getting strange paper feed issues

My family has several of these Canon MG range printers, all seem fine except one printer MG3550 that sporadically after printing a page takes another page or two and then misfeeds a third page. There's nothing to print when it does this.
Can't see anything jammed in the paper path. Seems very odd.
Any ideas? I hate throwing anything away. Btw it's out of warranty.
