Seriously overweight luggage

Hi all, I'm not sure if this is the right place to post but hope there is someone out there who can help.

I have a relative who has seriously overweight luggage who is due to return to the UK from Germany soon.

Does anyone know how I can advise hime to get some off his luggage back to the UK to avoid the seriously overweight charges likely to be made by the airlines?

Many thanks

Depends how much over he is, if its up to 30kgs and he is flying charter, tell him to dress smart, arrive early, and flirt his butt off at the check-in desk with the check in person. You can try with a scheduled flight, but may only blag a discount. And what ever he does, tell him not to kick off about charges or that he weighs less than a rotund person. Otherwise checkout the couriers.

If it's clothes making up the weight, could he wear more than normal?

As above, max out the hand luggage within the limit then wear s*it loads of clothes!

lol, thanks for some quick responses. Basically, its a BA Euro traveller which means only 1 piece of checked luggage and 1 piece of handluggage. He has been studying abroad and therefore the books are mainly the excess weight plus other bits bought while away.

Any further ideas, cheap couriers (never used a courier before so don't know the process).

Best idea is to take out the heavy (but not too valuable)books etc and weigh them - then log on to DHL or similar and get a quote for them alone.
