Anyone using Ignition Insurance?

Just got two cheap quotes for car insurance up for renewal.
Cheapest was octagon but from a quick search, they sound like a headache, so I've ruled them out. For £10 more, Ignition insurance came up but I can't find much about them and they don't have a website, I think they might be new to the market?

I've had two two crashes this year, on the first one, the third party is saying that I'm at fault and I went into the back of him - even though I have evidence of the back passenger side of his car with the impact (!).. anyway 9 months later that is still not settled so I have to put it down as at fault and no claims discount effected until the settlement comes through. The second one accepted liability but my premium still went up :(

Anyway, I can't afford a renewal as they want £600 more than this one, so.. if anyone has had any experience with ignition, please share

  • I haven't heard of them, but they are an intermediary by the looks of things. Find out which insurance company they are quoting you with.

    Doesn't look too promising:

yeah I saw that but it's only 7 reviews.. and some of them sound like just disgruntled customers. One of them is to complain that their insurance went up because they changed their car but that would happen with any insurer!

Until you goto pay for it and then you need to phone them to check details and the price suddenly increases.

Alternative finance provider fee £100? What is that about?

Personally i wouldn't even contemplate them unless you know 100% that your details wont change and pray you never need to claim and you cannot get insurance anywhere else.

They may have been mislead, rather than lie!

(Apart from the abnormally high admin fees, they say they can ask for photos of the odometer, your recent utility bill, all drivers licences and written proof of security devices etc. If you don't comply within the first 4 days they say they cancel the policy!!)
