"Dormant" account

Just checking my Noddle, I noted that a credit card which has had a zero balance on it was reported as "Inactive/Dormant" for four months this year.

I wasn't using the card, and since have made three purchases on it, paying two off before the statement date - meaning the actual statements showed "Zero".

However, one of those months is reported "Dormant" when it manifestly wasn't - and no mention of the payments made are on the file - then, on the second month I used it, it reverted to "Account up to date" but again no mention of the payment made (although again the payment was made before the statement date).

I then made a purchase and waited for the statement and have now cleared the card again to see what's reported next month: while I understand the "Dormant" report and the "Zero balance", I was under the impression if I made a payment, this would surely be reported as a payment? Although, that isn't the case here with two payments simply not showing; while it possibly doesn't matter, surely it isn't a "Matter of fact" to have "Balance and Payment" showing zero when a payment was made?

Comments

  • If you're clearing the balance before the statement is produced, then it will look at if you're not using it, as the reporting is an end of month snapshot.

Wait for the statement each month and pay in full then.

Cheers, I was thinking that; it was the fact that it then went "Active" as it were but with no mention of any payment made (although of course the payment technically went in the previous month!)
