Contacting seller on ebay

I have recently experienced trouble with buying a few BIN items on Ebay and have tried to contact the seller. Ebay seems to open up a request in the Resolution Centre rather than letting be contact the seller without involving the Resolution Centre. I am sure I have contacted a seller in the past directly without going through the Resolution Centre.

Am I doing something wrong. I have clicked "actions" against the item in "my ebay" summary and then "contact seller" and then after I have sent the message it would appear that I have not sent the message direct to the seller but opened up a case through the Resolution Centre. Am I doing something wrong or is that the way it always has been?

It depends what you are asking. If you are asking where the item is or it is not as described then you will automatically open a case. You can get round it by choosing other or asking how to use the item. The case is open now so best to deal with it through that.

Thanks for that I will bear in mind the "other" option in future.

I was asking why the I had not received the item yet. A straight forward question which I thought could be handled without opening a case.

That will always trigger a case. Its a tough one though. As a seller I would prefer it if I was asked as an other question so I do not get defect. As a buyer though I am tempted to do it "properly" in case the seller is difficult.
  • Yes, but there again I disagree. As a seller, I prefer all requests to come through as cases. We're top rated. Asking buyers to raise cases for non-delivery weeds out over 50% and doesn't impact our rating one iota.
