Didnt make it yesterday as we had a new boiler fitted we now have hot water when we turn on the tap instead of having to turn the boiler off and on the boiler was broken inside and was letting the fumes back in:eek:

Dinner tonight is southern fried chook , rostis and beans as DS needs to be out early and DD1 is off to her boyfriends graduation
Have a great day whatever you are up to
  • Mornng((((((((((hugs))))))))))if you need one, hope you get something sorted at the hospital TA.

Very dull here this morning, bad night, so still in bed. OH has gone out to the garden to put in the lavender plants. He did just manage to dig the bed at the weekend.

No real plans for the day
  • Morning all,
Just popping in quickly while I sit in the garden with a cup of tea. I'm having a CBA day today. I went out to a pub quiz with friends last night and didn't get to bed until 11 p.m. - which is late for me!
I have pulled some chicken out of the freezer for supper - might cook it tandoori style with rice or might bbq it with lemon and rosemary HG potatoes.
I used my birthday money last April to buy an fab new bbq and have hardly used it this year! Both of my kids now have partners and have often not been around for dinner and it seems silly to fire up the bbq just for me!
Got to get some family history notes written at some point this week. I am leading a new beginners' family history group for my local U3A starting at the end of September. It's such a popular topic - I have a waiting list running for spaces!
    Have a good day .....

  • Re:badgers. ..electric fence....you can get them at countryw--e. But my FIL dealt with them with a movement detector attached to a bright light, a hosepipe and a now deceased famous politicians loud and bossy voice on a tape....he does live in an isolated place !
  • I know where the badger setts are in the woods round the village but these folks live slap bang in the middle on the main road! They do have some unbuilt on land behind their garden and I know Badgers do cover quite an area in their foraging at night. He hasn't actually seen badgers, just thinks that's what is doing the damage but to be honest it could just as easily be foxes after earthworms at this time of year as the cubs are leaving the vixen and starting off own their own lives without totally having cracked hunting so earthworms are obtainable at that stage. We'll have to see the prints in the earth to know which it is. Thanks for the idea of an electric fence I'll pass that on to He Who Knows.

Back again... went to see Mother. I was concerned about her on Saturday but she was great today. She gabbled quite a bit and we did a bit of drawing. She used to say the only thing she could draw was a dog but the dog she drew wasnt the dog i remember. Still, it had a head, body, four legs, a tail and ears which accounts for something at least. She laughed at her attempt and i laughed at the house i drew... the chimney was wonky but Mom drew me some curtains for it.:rotfl:

  • Afternoon all,

Bit dull again here today but I believe it is supposed to brighten up near the end of the week. Glad we aren't in Southern Spain today as they have had torrential rain and floods.

After watching Jamie Olivers Super foods programme I have been out and bought some lentils and a squash in an attempt at making the Dahl thing he made last night. It won't be this evening though as I have already planned bolognaise for dinner.

    Have a good evening :)

Lovely day here, have been very busy for me, did some weeding, took in a double line of lovely dry clothes and took my neighbour to the village for stuff she needed for her OH, he is going downhill again and is adamant that he is not going into hospital again....not sure thats going to work for him, he is building up fluid again.

OH made bolognese today with meatballs...he still cooks as if all 9 of us were here....I am babysitting the twins tomorrow while DD gets her hair done, so will bring the leftovers to her so that she wont need to cook.

TA ....hope that your day has been a useful one at hospital.......i have always found that keeping your voice low and calm is best way to assert oneself.

Tru.....poor Scampi, I hope that his paw heals soon

Am going to make a citrus cake in a bit.....you boil the fruit and leave it to cool so I should have done that bit earlier, will also make a banana cake as I have some very overripe bananas to use up.

Enjoy the fine days as I feel it may not last.

    Evening everyone

Not been on for a while, but I have been reading. Feeling fed up so haven't posted. Following my op I developed a hernia which is causing discomfort but not sure when it will be sorted. Been advised not to do any heavy work as that may make it worse.

After being made redundant at the summer, I feel it is unfair to take a job knowing I will have to take time off. I'm also unable to start my college placement.

So not much is being done apart from bits of washing, dusting and cooking. I really would like to get out in the garden, cut the hedges, dig over the flowerbeds - shall have to delegate instead.

TA - hope you got some answers today for your dh.
Redruby - is there room for another one?
Judi - sounds like you had a lovely day with your dm.
Csarina - well done on your win.
Meanmarie - sounds like the twins are doing well.
Try - hope scampi's paw is soon better.

Hugs to anyone that needs/wants one.

    Take care.
