Lost my insurance docs - now what?

As title - car insurance details have gone astray, Have changed bank in last year and the old bank want a fee of £25 per paper copy of my statements (So I can check payment date)!
Have looked high and low - no docs, no paperwork or even old emails - What makes it worse is that is was a broker company so the insurers name wasn't even noticable on the paperwork
I do know the insurance should be up - anyday now really but I haven't had a renewal notice through the post - car is showing as insured on the AskMID website.
Any thoughts - don't all shout at me for losing the important paperwork or being unable to remember the details - really has been a lot going on in the last year or so

I presume you can't remember the name of the broker? If you can just ring them and ask.
Do you have Internet banking? If so you should be able to see your old statements online for free - and a bit of searching should find the date of the payment and the company you paid it to. If not ask your bank about setting it up - it's quite easy.0 -
I'd be tempted to drop into a local police station with some ID, and ask them to look you up.
I don't know if you can get the information by paying £4 to askmid?0 -
Have you checked payments out of your new account recently? If you think the insurance should have lapsed by now, it may have auto-renewed?
This page from the Association of British Insurers suggests that AskMID may be your best bet:

As the poster above said, their £4 search will tell you who the insurer is, but it says very clearly that it's only to be used if you've been involved in an accident:

No obvious contact details on the AskMID site, but found some buried in their T&Cs:You may contact MIB about the “askMID” facility at the following address:
Motor Insurers’ Bureau, Linford Wood House, 6-12 Capital Drive, Linford Wood, Milton Keynes, MK14 6XT: tel: 08702-416732, fax: 01908 481795, DX: 142621 Milton Keynes 10, email : askmidsupport@mib.org.uk
You could phone them and ask if you can use the £4 search to find out who insures you?0 -

Or you could access the site from a smartphone (not on wifi) and get the information for free
All matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves.0
