This isn't strictly moneysaving and i apologise if its been discussed before, i did search but couldn't find much.

I recently registered an 0871 number with no monthly fees etc, just a one off payment and maybe i never will recover my £9.95 outlay but it was worth giving it a go.

All my friends know my home number so it will not affect them but whenever i contact a company or organisation again i will give them the 0871 number which then re routes to my home number of which i then spend as long as i can talking to the company as they will be paying me 4 to 6 pence per minute.

It all sounded perhaps far fetched when i first looked into it but i can confirm it works and before anyone grills me for doing it, i really do get some satisfaction from it, after all most telephone numbers we the consumer have to ring are 0870 type numbers.

What do you think ?

It's been mentioned here many times before and a number of people do use this system, though most have obtained it for FREE. There are a number of companies out there who will do it for free as they make their money by taking a small percentage of all the calls to you.

I set up a FREE 0871 number with Primex for consumer revenge purposes!
There's no need to pay for one.
I earn 1p per minute every time I am called on this number! It costs the caller 10p per minute

You are being robbed, I set up an 0870 number,(no fees ), for the same reasons, and am paid 2.8p per minute when I am called on that number daytime Mon-Fri.

However that was before 1st August 2007 when BT brought down the cost of calling those numbers from 7.1p per minute to 6p per minute so it might be a bit less now, although your number will cost 10p per minute to be called, they are ripping you off.

How? Nothing is being taken from me?
Also, bear in mind I don't give out this number for revenue generating purposes; just for the sake of petty vindictiveness :D
