You say his friends have Xbox, I would check they have the Xbox One and not the Xbox 360, you don't want to buy the One as he wont be able to play with his friends.0

Thank you everyone. Have asked around and friends have Xbox One. So going to buy this one.
Although, looks like Xbox One Elite is out next month, maybe just pre-order that to get the latest that might last longer?!:rotfl:0 -

The Elite bundle is the same Xbox One (pretty much, has a faster hard drive) but comes with the much more expensive Elite controller which is a highly configurable controller. It's pretty specialist though and probably isn't worth the money unless it's something he specifically wants.
I do think it's worth going for the 1TB model over the 500GB version though as I don't think 500GB is enough, games need a huge amount of space and patches can be vast as well.

Probably a good call. Seriously don't worry - when you originally said you've looked into it and the PS4 seems better spec. The differences are minute and with some changes on the horizon to operating systems, and developers getting more and more used to how both work, those differences will get even smaller. They are both extremely good pieces of kit.
Not over surprised to hear his friends all have Xbone, I don't know why but there seems to be a slight pattern, every parent I know - their teen kids have Xbone or this is what they want.
Anyway, as for the elite or 1tb drive models, well I have a 500gb and haven't filled it yet. Then again, adults seem to work on less games than younger people who seem to have a hundred going at one time.
Apparently external drives work a bit better than internal, and you can get a 2tb drive for not too much if it's needed.0
