Nationwide don't know difference between Sec 75 and Chargeback or it me?

Phoned the Financial Ombudsman, very helpful and as part of a pre-action they have written a letter to Nationwide. The FO Adviser confirmed as Paul Lewis did that Nationwide are wrong in making reference to Sect75 when a customer is asking for a Chargeback and also when they state a chargeback has a maximum amount which the FO confirmed does not.0

Were you asking Nationwide for the full amount of the repairs back ? If you were i can understand why they said there would be a maximum amount they would be able to dispute. If you can prove the paint used was defective then you would get back the cost of the paint, not the full amount. Did the total include other repairs besides the paint ? Can you prove the paint was defective ?0

I gave details of the full amount I paid but not what not what I wanted back, as the letter to Nationwide sort advice on this and included the merchants invoice. The paint and labour came to about £3300. I was given an estimate yesterday of £2000 to put the paint right and around a £1000 to strip and reassemble0

How is the paint defective ? Could it be down to how it's been applied ?0

Paint had orange peel on every panel plus runs, rough finish, overspray, matt finish, peeling paint, not enough paint, too much paint, fish eyes, solvent burst, discolouration, stained interior trim fabric, damaged radiator grill, damage side window wind deflectors, mis-balanced front wheels and primer showing through,
Then he had it back again to put right, now it has less orange peel, less rough finish, overspray, very thin paint with grey primer colour showing through, milky colour all over, micro bursts, runs polished down to ridges, stains to interior and damaged radiator grill, peeling paint, damaged deflectors and primer has been repainted over with a paint brush!!!0 -
and it vibrates like a sod at 65mph as he painted the wheels as well0

Sounds like poor workmanship to me rather than faulty paint ! No cover for that under Chargeback regulations.0

I suggested that in post #2 but post#4 says that quality issues are now covered by Chargeback:Sounds like poor workmanship to me rather than faulty paint ! No cover for that under Chargeback regulations.Quality disputes are now allowed by Visa, it was introduced this year.0 -
