    hello all,

i was wondering if any of you lovely ladies could recommend a reasonably priced sheepskin water repellant/proofer? i've been looking at various scotchgards but most of them seem to be suitable for suede or leather, can't see anything for sheepskin, i assumed the normal leather/suede repellants would be fine but wanted to check in here first to see what everyone else has been using? i can't afford one of the ugg or emu kits they are expensive.

as a first time ugg buyer, after reading this thread i decided to get a pair of mortels short bullet boots for pottering around the house in & a long black pair of another brand for outdoors. both pairs are brand new, made in australia, purchased from ebay got them both for £55 all in :T well chuffed! theres no way i could justify spending over £100 on 1 pair of boots.

i ordered a pair of bench grey sheepskin boots from littlewoods to see what they would be like - the sheepskin on the outside of the boots is bitty & thin, not impressed with them, would have cost me around £50 once i had received cashback, i'll be sending them back. previous to this i had a pair of emu stinger lo chestnut delivered from amazon, they were a mens size 7 last pair & managed to get them for £49.50. when i received them the right boot had a hole on the outside on the seam, the left boot had a black pen/pencil mark on it. you'd think someone would check goods before sending them out, they got sent back as well!

    best wishes

Tried Tescos or Sainsburys? Scholl do them and most supermarkets I've been in sell scotchguard for suede. (n/b, Supermarkets, not Metro or Locals)

But remember with this product- its not going to make it waterproof- its basicly a coating, and will take away some of the softness-they all do, even the Ugg branded ones, its a plastic coating and its how they work.

You only need enough so that when you wash/clean the boots, the dirt comes off too (you can again get cleaning stuffs from supermarkets along side the scotch guard but its not so massibly different from the Ugg ones in terms of price nce you have all the bits).
Once you have cleaned the boots and had them dry out (stuff them with newspaper, leave them in an airing cupboard or somewhere warm and dry), apply a new coating of scotchguard to further protect the boots. Its good, but it will wear off after time.

Hi there, I followed the above posters advice and just got some from Tesco for about £2.50 - I then went into my local asda and they had them all on clearance for 50p!;) I thought about getting the proper UGG stuff but couldnt justify the ridiculous price they wanted!

many thanks jennie & niki for your advice!
  • I have the same problem as Graemewh, order boots at my daughter's insistance from uggstore.com.au. Did not realsise that "ugg" can be used by anybody in Australia. $55 Australian dollars shipping cost and £19.25 uk duty costs. Now I need to send them back as she will not wear "fakes" , going to lose the 15% restocking cost. Would have been cheaper to pay full price in uk if I had known all this.
The web reply to my return e.mail said they are "very busy" and will get back to me. Wonder how much the freight charge will be to return!!

ive bought some from www.uggstore.com.au they are like 2nds returned them on wednesday cost £11.00 requested for it to be signed for as they have not bothered to reply to my emails sent last week.In total it has cost me nearly £40.00 in delivery and custom, and now i have the 15% charge to pay yet,the boots were badly made, the two boots shades did not match, dont buy from this company, ive paid out loads and have nothing to show for it
  • not too sure if these are any good just googled australian ugg and this website came up

    http://www.uggstore.com.au/index.php?cPath=22&sort=3a&osCsid=dcb9986871c1c6fb7353cd3bec5fac70

have never ordered from them before and i dont even own a pair of ugg boots im an ugg newbiee :rotfl:
