New gas supply - selecting supplier
Our house wasn't previously connected to gas. We have just had a gas supply installed (up to a box on the outside of the house) and now, apparently we have to select a supplier who will take it inside, install a meter and supply the gas.
I've looked a couple of the comparison sites but they presume you already have a supply.
Can anyone tell me how I can find the best deal with no comparative data?
Any advice would be gratefully received (as it's getting chilly!!)
ps I did sign up to Eon via the Cheap Energy Club for our electricity but that was a while back and I can't remember the steps I took to do that.

Contact any supplier you want, and see if they will arrange to put you on supply.
Once you have a supply (meter etc), then you will be able to consult a comparison site to find the best deal for you, and switch if appropriate.
Be careful of being talked into a tariff with early exit fees, if you are planning on possibly changing soon.0 -
Thanks for the responses. I called Eon. They are going to install the meter and we have to stick with them for 5 weeks and then we can change with no fees.
I have said that we are going to swap to the latest collective deal. My electricity is already on the last one but it'll only cost £5 early exit fees and it looks as if we'll save a fair bit.0 -

Eon do not charge early exit fees for transfering tariff (i.e. remaining with them).0
