Advice Please - MET Parking Appeal

Any advice gratefully received.

I received a PCN at Princes Risborough Station 2 weeks ago for £100 (reduced to £60 if paid within 14 dys). No issues with paying for the day's parking, I park there regularly and it was a mistake on my part but I feel this 'fine' is excessive. I don't know who owns the land but if it's Chiltern Railways I find it especially cheeky on top of the rail fare! :)

I have read the advice to Newbies but have also posted on another forum (am very grateful for that advice too of course) who have suggested because it was a window ticket I should ignore it and await the NTK docs first. Obviously this is slightly different to the Newbies advice here of waiting until Day 20 to contact them.

So...any thoughts on whether I should ignore or wait another week to contact them would be gratefully received...

Thanks.

You might want to read the Newbies thread again then if you think that. Wait for the NTK and then follow the standard appeals process ( unless you're not the RK of the car ).

  • Thanks for the reply. I like to think I'm a reasonably intelligent person and have just re-read the Newbies post but do find it confusing with regards to this point. It says:

'The reason for waiting 3 weeks is to not appeal too soon as if you are the driver and secondly, to engage them in the appeals process at a time when they should also be posting a Notice to Keeper'

This would suggest that you appeal at Day 20 BEFORE they've posted a NTK which is obviously different to waiting for the NTK to arrive first...?

I have no issues with either but want to start off on the right footing if this is to be a drawn out process.

    Thanks.

the point is that if you are going to appeal the windscreen ticket you do so as if the driver passed it on, before they can apply to the DVLA for the RK details

this should be done at say day 25 so its there by day 28 , then you are hoping they will forget to issue an NTK by day 56 , making an extra appeal point , the newbies thread was amended to day 21 or later due to people forgetting to do it in time

the alternative is to wait for the NTK to arrive between day 29 and day 56 , but what you dont want is them passing it to a debt collector after day 28 which some do

so its a toss up as to which you do , we can only tell you the reasons why each is an option

Fair enough - it's been a while since I read the Newbies thread.

Nope, just as long as you are the RK and your address at DVLA is up to date then await the NTK and then appeal as the RK.
