Hi all, long time lurker first time poster
So I recieved a parking charge notice in the post from Debt Recovery Plus on behalf of "Vehicle Control Services ltd" at the weekend for £160 for allegedly parking on their land on 21/05/15.
They state that they have contacted my registered address which unfortunately I had not updated with the DVLA. After a letter from the DVLA (unrelated to the parking fine) I sent completed log-book back two weeks ago for my new address. They utilised a tracing service which has provided my new address.
I called DRP this morning to discuss, I stated that I have no recollection of whether I was parked there or not as it was 4 months ago. I stated that I regularly use the car park and always pay for the privilege.
I asked whether photographic evidence was available and was told that they would have to contact the parking company to provide, which could take up to 10 working days. They then offered an early payment price of £128.00 which would only stand until the end of today (surprise surprise)
What do you think I ought to do? I regularly use the car park and pay £5 per day to do so. If I didn't have a ticket and a notice had been left on my windscreen I would have dealt with it at the time.
Admittedly they have not had an easy time contacting me but a £160 / £128 charge seems excessive.
Any help would be greatly appreciated !
Many thanks
Edit : Sorry, should have said the car park is a private land, town centre affair.

Don't contact DRP again. They now think they have a fish on the hook and will bombard you with bog paper for months if not years. Just ignore anything and everything you get from them.
Read the Sticky thread for NEWBIES and appeal to VCS using the template exactly as it is.
They will reject it at which point you have to decide whether to make an IAS appeal (kangaroo court) then ignore, or ignore without appealing.
The appeal costs the PPC money. Your choice.
You could also complain to the DVLA that VCS haven't sent a POFA 2012 compliant NTK but went straight to debt collectors.
