Electric debt
Options
About 7 years ago I managed to run up a debt with edf on my electricity and they moved me to prepayment and paid a fixed amount weekly to clear the debt. I was fine with this and got on with it.
Last month I decided to switch enery suppliers for a better deal and had a letter through from edf saying I couldn't switch as I still owed a large amount.
From what I can gather is that somewhere during the past few years they switched computer software and the debt didn't transfer over and hasn't been collected.
I can't believe i still owe most of it. What can I do?
Any help appreciated.

What debt is showing now on the meter ? Screen "S " will show what debt remains.Screen "T " shows the weekly repay amount. These screens can only be seen with key inserted.0

That's the thing. No debt shows on the meter.0

Bottom line, if you owe it you have to pay it.
Speak to EDF and ask for a good will payment you may get a small reduction. EDF switched computer systems mid 2010.
Your allowed to transfer up to a £500 debt on PPM, so if you can bring it down to that level you should be able to switch.0 -
