Please help me avoid a WTC overpayment?

Morning all! I am really pleased to write that after just a week of signing on i have been offered a new job and it starts tomorrow! yay!

I am however a little concerned about WTC's after reading lots about huge overpayments. The job is contracted for 20 hours however, at interview they said at the moment its likely to be around 32 hours due to them being busy so which hourly rate do i declare to WTC when i call them?

is it best/easier to over report hours/wages then reduce it if and when the time comes the hours drop to 20 or just state contracted hours and report to them weekly if i go over 30? its the 30 hour element i'm concerned with and I guess my weekly hours could bounce between the two from one week to the next!

I really hope that makes some sense! thanks in advance :)

Congratulations on the new job :D

I think you have to be working at least 24 hours between you and your partner to be entitled to claim WTC

I've been reading this forum for a l-o-n-g time but still don't understand enough about benefits to be able to give you any advice :o I'm sure someone will be along shortly that will be able to help you.

    *edit*

    See :D

Hi Blondebubbles; I can see this getting complicated so I'm pleased I asked on here now! :o

well, they want me to start tomorrow so I should know much more after then, although I do need to speak to my new employer today as the job centre are asking for written proof...

As far as i can tell from what they said at interview it is very much according to business demand, but whatever happens I will always get at least 20 hours.
