reporting to CRAS yes or no how do I find out

I'm currently in the process of trying to build my credit I have no history at all so I can't even get an aqua credit card at the moment so I'm trying to get all my payment history on my account as much as possible
The big issue I keep coming across is that whenever I phone a company it seems that nobody knows if the company reports to a credit reference agency or which agency in fact and also they don't know if they will report my good payments or just defaults.

I think we should have our right to know for sure if we are going to benefit from paying our bills with a company or not.

Mainly energy companies. I'm trying to find out which companies will report my monthly payments as a good thing. Does anyone know of a way I can search or a department of each company I could call to get a definitive answer?

Also if anyone knows if scottishpower report, which cra they report to and do they report monthly payments that would be great
Also does anyone know the same about ovo?

Thanks

The department responsible for data protection is generally headed up by their 'Data Protection Officer'. However, I doubt very much you'd be able to ring them! Maybe try putting your request in writing.

You'll probably find some contact details in the service provider's privacy policy. For example, here's what Yorkshire Water say...
Questions, comments and requests regarding this privacy policy are welcomed and should be addressed in writing to the Data Protection Compliance Officer at Yorkshire Water Services Ltd, Western House, Halifax Road, Bradford, BD6 2SZ.
