Hello people
i wonder if anyone can help in my question i have been an A + L Member for 6 months i got a current account with a visa electron card and cheque book.
i went into my branch on saturday to see if i could upgrade to a visa debit card and she said no problems but she then says im getting a credit card an overdraft and a savings account as well as these are the things that come in the package. my credit is not in the best of orders i have a capital one card. would i really get all these things with the upgrade or will i be rejected my alliance and leicester account has been 100% good since i banked with them so im just curious as all i wanted was a visa debit instead of the electron
thanks in advance

Looks like you been sold a puppy!
The package is a figment of the seller's imagination.
She is on a sales related pay package - the more she sells you (and others of course) the more she gets paid.
If you want to use the credit card - great use it (especially if there is an interest free balance transfer) if not cut it up and bin it (or shred it if ultra cautious).0 -
I think you're wrong, ejones999.
If you open a Premier or Premier Direct account, you automatically qualify for a credit card and a Plus Saver account. The extra accounts are opened automatically for everyone who gets those current accounts (presumably unless you specifically ask to not have the credit card). The savings account isn't even optional IIRC, but then what does it matter to someone to have a savings account which they don't have to use?
From A&L website:You can apply online for a Premier account - when your application is approved, the PlusSaver account will be automatically set up and linked to your Premier account.0 -
The Plus saver is automatically opened with the Premier Account. The credit card is not and wasn't even offered when I signed up on line.

However, it's not as clear cut as MarkyMarkD says. You don't "automatically qualify" for the card. After all, it's underwritten by MBNA who will want to carry out their own assessment of the applicant.
Perhaps better to say you are offered the choice of applying during the current account application, and the card will be given 'subject to status'.0 -
Yes I just had a look and it is mentioned on the page for the Premier account. I don't remember if it was like that 2 weeks ago when I signed up but during the sign up process no mention was made of the credit card. As you say it would have to be a seperate application.

* Poor cashback, but 9 months 0% on BT's with a 2.25% fee (which is different from their standard product which has 3 months 0% on purchases and a 12 month BT offer, again with a 2.25% BT fee).0 -
Ok perhaps it was there when I applied and I refused the card don't need another card at the moment.
So it would be better to apply for the credit card seperately as you would get a longer 0% BT period

Morning!
Does anyone know what scoring system A&L use for their current accounts? I'm not on the electoral roll and consequently my credit record is not in the most perfect of conditions. Oh how I wish one's employment (and the fact that any credit failures disbars us) actually counted for this sort of thing!
Thanks!0 -

Sorry for going off topic. I thought when you do a 'dummy application' online, the details you input will be saved, even though you quit the browser....0 -
