N-Power final bill on pre-pay meter

Options
Hi guys,

We have just left N-Power and we had a letter stating they will send us a final bill for our gas & electricity. The only problem is we have a pre-pay meter and can't understand why we should have to pay anything.

We rang them and they have said because we didn't top up regularly over the summer months we have service charges outstanding.

Is this legal? We were not aware of having to top up a set amount and nor were we ever in a contract with them as it was just the supplier that was set up when we moved in 2 years ago.

The only thing we done was give them our name instead of the previous tenant.

Are these fees justifiable? Do we have to pay for something we haven't used?

Regards

Roy

Electric meter....the amount you owe will be displayed on screen A , that s for unpaid standing charges and on screen "S " for any outstanding unpaid debts from a former credit meter. The standing charges will tot up if you don t credit too often, go on holiday, spend time away etc, usually between £1.40 to £2 a week.Gas meter is more or less the same.First screen on pressing red button will display any unpaid standing charges and screen 26 for unpaid debt from a former credit meter.
Everyone pays a daily standing charge on the gas and electric meters including prepayment customers. Only Ebico gas users can pay zero standing charges, but pay a higher tariff.Suitable for very low users only.So yes, its legal although its probably a civil matter. Credit rating may suffer if the standing charges are nt paid
