Total non-mortgage credit balance?

Hi all,

Just last night I decided to start my 30-day trial of Experian to find out my credit rating; I'm looking to learn more about the intricate workings of my finances.

I've never had a credit card before, but it says I have a total non-mortgage credit balance of £305 across my current bank (£280), and my phone provider (£25).

My phone is paid off via direct debit every month, but I'm not 100% sure what the £280 with my bank is...

At the moment my score is 'fair', so I think the logical next step is to get a credit card to put me in 'good' territory. Can anyone more knowledgeable on this subject help me steer my course?

Thanks :)
