O/S Daily Sunday 6th September 2015
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine
Morning everyone
Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x
Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.
Now light, wispy clouds with sun breaking through, and dry underfoot, temperature has dropped though.
DH and I up – enjoying first peaceful cuppas of the day. Boys still in their pits.
Dinner last night was gammon steaks, eggs, new potatoes, veg and gravy – gammon steaks were from a butcher that some friends recommended – wow, they were huge and the flavour is excellent – they weren’t cheap but you get what you pay for! Having said that, much cheap and healthier than a takeaway. This morning we’re going to mum’s for brunch as it’s her birthday today and bro, sil, sis, bil, niece and nephew will be there. Our main meal will be later approx. 4pm – roast lamb, etc – I’m hoping that I can get everything prepped before we go to mum’s this morning, then all I have to do is cook it later. I want to get the pack ups etc done ready for tomorrow also, then I can have some chill time later.
Have peaceful Sundays’ everyone x
Keep safe and well x

Good morning all,
Thank you nmic for starting us today.
Well we returned from not so sunny Norfolk yesterday. We had a great time meeting old friends, but Friday was really cold. The hotel was lovely and looked after us very well.
The washing is done, but the ironing is waiting. We are popping to Lidls this morning for a few provisions and I have a £5 voucher off a £40 shop which finishes today so will stock up on a few essentials.
DGD1 is on another course this week, but for 2 days so will miss her. She has already been there so she knows where she is going now. I worry about her, but I was doing the same when I was her age with not a bother on me:)
I have no idea what we will have for our meal today, but Lidl have beautiful chicken so it will probably be that. I want to try and sort the freezer out as well this week and get some order in it and use any odd bits.
TA I am so sorry DH is still feeling so poorly, I think it is time you put your big kni**ers on and asked the doctors some straight questions. It isn't fair on either of you, and to be honest sometimes you have to make a nuisance of yourself to get action. With that disease you can't be nice, time isn't on your side, and you need action now. Sending you many hugs.
Have a good day all

Morning nmlc & all who cross post & follow.
We went to see MIL yesterday & collected her prescriptions, also had a chat with FIL to try & keep his spirits up. It will be 2 weeks until we can go again because of hubby's shifts.
DD2 & her kids had made a huge banner for hubby's birthday & hung it on a local roundabout, he was very touched.
DD1 is visiting today with her kids so that will be nice.
Hubby will watch the Italian GP today & I'm making a cheats roast dinner, a pork chop with roasties, stuffing balls, HG veg etc.
I also need to make another blanket for a pregnant colleague, a pink one this time as she is expecting a girl.
Time I fed the fish as they are queued up along the side of the tank glaring at me.
Have a good day everyone.

Good morning everyone :hello:
Up at sparrow's f*rt this morning with my lovely grandson. He had an empty tummy so I made him some toast and a milkshake which he then promptly tipped all over the table and floor. The dog was delighted, me, not so much . Luckily we have carpet tiles so I can pull them up and wash them a bit later on.
My washing machine has finally died after many years of faithful service so I have ordered a new one to arrive on Tuesday. I am hoping it will be delivered fairly early as I'm sure I will have a big pile of washing to do by then. That's the third large appliance to die on us this year. I really hope it is the last!
Hubby is cooking roast beef for lunch with all the trimmings but I will just have some meat and veg. I am going to attempt a crustless quiche for my tea as well just for a change. I am going to write a better meal plan for next week including lunches for myself and also plan in some baking. I think I am going to make some eccles cakes, a bakewell tart and a gluten free lemon drizzle for my friend. I'm not so sure about the lemon cake as it has mashed potato in it but I will give it a go. She doesn't do a lot of baking as her oven isn't very good so I will help her out.
Well, I hope you all have a nice Sunday, take care xx0 -
Morning one and all. Another lovely start here so I want to get our bedding washed and on the line as soon as Mr TA vacates the bed!
Mr TA had perked up a bit yesterday (he's never the same two days running) and by afternoon he said he fancied a stroll! The day before it took him all his time to walk from the sofa to the kitchen. So we had another stroll up to the Moorgate. We had a sit down on the wall and admired the views and watched even more swallows gathering on the farm's telegraph wires ready for the big migrate. It was a lovely afternoon but by 5 ish it was feeling quite backendish so we headed back. Mr TA had a doze whilst I made tea but he managed to eat it all which was good to see after eating next to nothing the day before.
No plans for today, will just see how he is feeling when he gets up.
Middle DGD (6) starts her dance rehearsals today for her big debut at Bradford Alhambra in November. She is excited but nervous too! DD is working this w/e so they are staying at their dads. I think his GF will be taking her. She is so good with the girls and they love her to bits. He is lucky to have found someone so nice after he and DD split up.
Not christened today's meals yet but cauliflower cheese will be involved somewhere! I have an enormous one of the 39p specials from Aldi to use. I wish they were always that size and price! I'll have a delve in the freezer next to see what we can have with it.
Have a good day all ((((HUGS))))) if needed and take care whatever you are up to xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -

Morning All
Dumpling - You have such wonderful willpower, all this food around and baking for your friend and you are sticking to your diet, well done you!
HH - Belated Happy Birthday to Mr HH, hope he had a lovely day. What a lovely thing for the family to do.
TA - I hope you get some answers soon and Mr TA feels well again.
Judi - Wouldn't you just love to be in your Mum's head? Must be very difficult for you both.
Butterfly Brain - Had a good read of your magazine, just sorry I now only have a postage stamp sized garden!
The weather has been glorious here for the past week, yesterday was really quite hot. I tidied up the garden, cleared away the bean and courgette plants as they had finished. Also weeded between the slabs - that took ages but looks so much better now it's done.
Have to go up to DDs flat again today, we have someone coming to check the gas boiler for her, I feel much safer knowing that everything is ok. I went yesterday to see if there was a card for the hub that should have been delivered but it wasn't there, did defrost the freezer though.
Also fitted the new fridge door shelves - we were in about half an hour on Wednesday after she had got the keys, I cleaned the fridge and obviously didn't put the shelves back properly, opened the door again and two of them fell out and broke! Fantastic service from Bo$ch, I ordered them on Thursday morning and they arrived Friday morning.
Need to do some cleaning here - the builders are on the home stretch with the bathroom although I am not that keen on the tiles (my choice but they look a little dull). Washing up to date, DW on and made pancakes for breakfast.
Enjoy Sunday! Take care. XX0 -
Morning :hello:
We were going to sort the bathroom out in november but the shower is now humming when it's turned on, I'm sure it's going to give up at any moment. We've had new lights fitted – supplies from the wholesaler and my electrician friend fitted for free :T The wiring's in for the extractor fan, it's on order so will be here in a few days. The tiles have been ordered and the shower and cubicle will be ordered tomorrow.
Scampi has chewed the clip on his collar so no walks for him til the pet shop opens at 10.30amIt's a big chunky one which we only use for walks, the rest of the time it's on a hook with his lead – it must've been knocked off because I found it on the kitchen floor with the clip missing and lots of bits of chewed up plastic
He still wears his thinner collar with his ID on it, I won't use it for walks though because it's not strong enough if he suddenly yanks on the lead.
We missed our morning walk yesterday because of the work going on in the bathroom, so kongs, sticks and balls were thrown about for a couple of hours, inbetween making cups of tea and clearing up bits of rubbish. The garden was wet so the floors were covered with muddy paw prints by lunchtime. By the time I'd cleaned up and done a bit of housework I was worn outLooking forward to a lazy day today, crochet and a film for me

Today I shall be doing my weekly menu's plus baking this morning I also want to make a lasagna to go in the fridge for tomorrow as my friend is coming down from Dartford for the day .She is getting married in November so we will have lots to chat about as usual I expect.
A bit of ironing to catch up on as well and then off to Dds late afternoon for dinner.

Morning all,
Back from the south of France and what a change in the weather !! Last week I was in the pool by 7.30 each morning in the blazing heat and its blooming cold here !
We had the most marvellous time, my sister had 'won' the house for a week in an auction, it was owned by a record producer and was just beautiful, it was huge with three double bedrooms all with en suite, its own pool, bar and covered lounging area called the 'web' because once you were in it, it was very hard to leave !! We spent a couple of days just lounging by the pool and dipping in every now and then when it got too hot, and had several days visiting the local area which was beautiful, we also managed a trip to Italy to look at a house my sister might be interested in buying but it was very remote so she is not so sure now.
We will hopefully go back next year as the area is just stunning and there was a lot more to see.
Back to reality now, wm is on the go with the first of many washes, dd is still in bed will leave her as she is back at uni tomorrow so will need the rest.
I need to do an online shop at some point and unpack the suitcases and put things back in their proper homes.
I have another week off work which is lovely so I can get myself sorted.
Have good days all and hugs to TA and hubby xx0
