how to call cheaply 0345

When I try to contact a helpdesk, I am forced to call expensive numbers like 0345 and wait long hours to get support. Is there a way to call these craps cheaper?

Go to the SayNoto0870 site, sometimes there is a free phone number there.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

Calls to 03 numbers cost the same as calling 01 and 02 numbers and count towards inclusive allowances on landlines and on mobiles. This Ofcom rule has been in place since 2007.

Most people call these numbers using their inclusive allowance on their landline or on their mobile. In this case there is no charge for each individual call.

If you are paying a per-minute rate for calling these numbers you are likely on the wrong tariff or with the wrong provider. Outside of an inclusive allowance, landline providers can charge anything up to 12p per minute and mobile providers can charge anything up to 45p per minute. If this is what you are paying, your landline or mobile provider is ripping you off.

If you have weekend or evening and weekend inclusive calls on your landline, change to the anytime call plan.

If you haven't got enough minutes on a mobile phone contract, change to the next tariff up.

If you pay a per-minute rate on pay as you go, get an inclusive calls add-on or bundle.

Make sure your call plan covers the calls that you make.

  • I only have mobile, O2, I don't have access to land line. Is it possible to know BEFORE I call, how much it will cost per minute? Is there a website or something to enter the number I want to call and know the cost?

Every landline and mobile provider publishes a list of their prices on their website.

Rather than paying O2 something like 35p per minute, get an add-on with a few hundred minutes included.
e.g. 30 minutes at 35p per minute costs £10.50 but you can get a bundle with 250 minutes for 50p less. As long as you use more than 29 of the 250 minutes, you have saved money.

03 numbers cost the same to call as 01/02 numbers. So whatever your paying to call 01/02 numbers it will be the same. Or if you have inclusive minutes they are included.

You could register with http://www.18185.co.uk/mobilerates.php and use their Freephone 0808 Access Number to get cheaper rates. 01/02/03 calls are charged at 1p a minute plus a 5p connection charge.
