Please can anyone help? My Mum has an oldish DVD recorder which is settoday up so she can record tv programmes when she's going to miss them because of bowling etc. Sometimes she switches it on and instead of the usual options it says "Format hdd management formatting will delete all contents." She can't make it select the No option and last time it just went ahead and deleted all her recordings.....
is it just getting old?

which model
hard disk or dvd or both
the message suggests a hard disk is faulty or corrupt, not necessarily an age thing
if you're planning to replace it, freeview play launches next month, Panasonic will be the first to support it.

Thanks - that looks interesting and if it does turn out to be the end of the line for the machine, we will look into these.
I'm sorry but we couldn't see what model it is (she is quite old and at the other end of the phone!) but it does play DVDs as well as recording programmes. She is quite non techie and only uses it to record her favourite programmes to watch later - no DVDs involved. HTH.0 -
does it have a freeview tuner or dual freeview tuners inside. probably too late in the current state but some of them allow backups to external hard disks0

Does she delete her old recordings?. Is the hard disk full?.0

Press the Return or Exit key on the remote (usually top and bottom right of the circular dial on Panasonics) to exit the Format dialogue, maybe?0
