Got myself a tablet from which access to the internet is fine. When I try to download some apps when I click on install I get a message to the effect I need apps permission under various headings such as Storage, Other applications, System tools, Microphone, Your location etc etc - when I tap accept I get an instant message saying " Error whilst retrieving from server" then a small number of letters and numbers. Whatever I try to download onto the tablet I get the same request for apps permission and exactly the same "Error" message followed by a different number. Anyone able to help me please. For you help I have a android 4.4 (whatever that means !!)

Go into Setting (Tap the white ball with the six black dots on the Desktop), then tap "Settings".
Swipe down to the section called "PERSONAL", and tap "Security".
Put a tick by "Unknown sources. Allow installation of apps from unknown sources".
You'll get a warning message, to which you will need to click "OK". You can always untick it later.
Make sure the next option down "Verify apps" is also ticked.0 -
Thanks Bedsit - did what you suggested but the Unknow sources box already had a tick next to it !!! and the verify apps box was also ticked - any other thoughts ??0

It can be a bit dodgy (so should really only be done, if you are sure you can trust the app you are installing), but you could temporarily untick "Verify apps".
Please note: You do this at your own risk!0 -
Got it working Bedsit - I googled the problem and loads of people seemed to have had the same difficulty. They suggested merely adding another gmail account which I did and BINGO - all working fine. Thanks very much for your time and trouble anyway - top man :beer:0
