Hi I wonder if any of you chaps and chapesses could help me. I've been sent over here by the debt free wannabees and told you can offer advice for my predicament. I am finding my shopping bill each month is increasingly high. I have a 14 week old baby who is due to be weaned soon. I live on my own with him and am looking for any moneysaving ideas on recipies and baby recipies really. Any advice muchly appreciated xx:beer:

You could have a look at "cheap meals"thread.
There are loads of recipe thead all over this board as well as tips like using "Stardrops" and a microfibre cloth for cleaning and tips for making your own washing powder etc.
Have you heard about "Freecycle" where you can collect stuff for free as long as you have offered something yourself first? (Could just be something small!)
How about "Pigsback" where you get points for clicks that you can get reward for - like Boots vouchers."This site is addictive!"

Hi! I weaned my baby early as he was really big and was advised not to give him meat, gulten, wheat, etc until he was 7 months so until them he pretty much just ate fruit and veg. I've always try to make my own food for him, I cook a large batch and freeze it. This saves time and money. When I first started weaning him I would puree some steamed pears and then freeze them into ice cube trays and he'd just have a couple at meal time, sometimes with baby rice.
To start with I'd make some purees of simple things pears, apples, peaches, etc - most things can be frozen. Things like carrot, sweet potato, brocolli, swede, cauliflower, etc can all be steamed and frozen.
Sure theres been a thread about baby food before, have you tired doing a quick search? HTH x
