This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

Morning all
Fish fed, hubby has a cuppa, I'll wait until my stomach settles before I have anything apart from water.
Washing is on the line, being rained on, I got one load dry y'day after work, it's meant to be dry tomorrow & the way /i'm feeling the washing can stay out until it drys.
It's hubby's 60th today, we went for a carvery yesterday evening to celebrate, I've bought him a new pair of slippers, not very exciting I know but his trip to Silverstone to watch the GP was his birthday present.
We are going to visit MIL this afternoon, I've got her some nice hand cream, it's difficult to know what to take. We can offer FIL a bit of support for an hour.
I have shopping being delivered this evening, mainly fish as there were a lot of offers on it & I love fish.
Have a good day everyone.

Morning everyone
Hugs to everyone that wants/needs one x
Now light still raining and doesn't look like it's going to stop, turned chilly too.
DH in the bath, I've showered and just eaten my brekkie, both lads still in their pits, they will surface at some point no doubt.
Dinner last night was egg, bacon, sausages, hash browns, black pudding, mushrooms, tomatoes, beans and toast. Tonight I'm thinking of wraps with chicken goujons and salad, some savoury veg rice and HM coleslaw. Lunch will be hot slices/pasties for the menfolk, I'll have salad.
I did manage to get all the chores done yesterday that I wanted, DH and I have a few chores to do today.
Keep safe and well.

Morning one and all. A beautiful start here, blue sky with some soft white clouds and the sun is shining. In fact it's a decent forecast for the whole weekend. Birthday greetings to Mr HH btw!
Mr TA never picked up all day yesterday and it was left to me to amuse the 2 youngest DGDs. Normally he loves playing games etc with them but he just wasn't up to it. He has another appt at St James, Leeds, on Tuesday and I am not leaving the consultant's room until something is sorted re his treatment. Every time they are adamant the way he is is not a symptom of the cancer as the tumours are still so small. Well something is causing him to go downhill so quickly, even though the recent Octreotide scans don;t shed any light on it. Nor thorough examinations every time we go. I'm sorry for the moan but it's all getting on top of me at the minute.
Not a very exciting day ahead for me. The Friday clean never got done yesterday with the DGDs here all day, so that's to do today. A dust and vac all round then the kitchen and bathroom to do. At the moment though I feel I CBA starting!
HESTER I'm a huge fish lover too. I alternate between fish and Quorn based meals. In fact I eat very little meat these days. But I am still partial to a bacon sarnie now and then!
Have a good day all (((HUGS)))) if needed and take care whatever you are up to xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning all!
Still in bed with a my first cup of tea! Mind you, I was up at 6 to let the chickens and the rabbit out.
Have to take DD to work at midday. She can drive now, but her young man will be picking her up from work to go on to a party this evening.
On the way home, I will stop at friends' house. They are moving house next week and need to re-home a load of wood-burner logs as their new house doesn't have a fire.
Must pop to the library. I have lots of books to return. Have just reserved Rick Stein's 'From Venice to Istanbul' but not sure how far up the reserve list I am! There were some lovely Greek recipes last night and having lived in Greece for a while, and worked on Greek cruise ships, I am yearning for some Greek salad/sunshine!!!
Just popping into the Arms to join up with this year's Strictly thread. Not sure I will be able to watch it yet as that annoying Ainsley Harriot is a contestant this year. Morning everyone.
It's a lovely morning here so I'll get a load in the washing machine.
Happy birthday to HH's OH.
TA - you do right, your OH sounds bad. There must be a reason. Sometimes docs focus too much on primary illness when there could well be something else too. And it could be minor.
My OH is happily at a steam fair and will probably be heading to the Borders for the new railway there. Luckily I love being alone and cherish the quiet times.
Yesterday I went up to Oban and bought a black currant bush - Ben More - which I'll need to plant out today. The fruit reminds me so much of my granny who taught me to top and tail them.
The cows weren't too bad, just a load of noise but the moving of them didn't get in the way too much.
The car will get vacuumed out this morning and have a bit of a clean out. It's going in for its MOT soon so can't be in a mucky state.
Right, off to load the machine and make some breakfast. I hope everyone has a good day.0 -
Good Morning everyone, we're grey and overcast again this morning but it's not cold. Taking DD1 to her course in a few minutes and then on to a sister museum for us for the day, pick her up this afternoon to come back home at 5. We've booked supper at a local pub, I think we'll be tired after all day in the open so that will be nice.
I gave the buddleia bush a really good pruning last week and discovered that the bird feeding station had rusted through (it stood beside the bush) so decided to hang the feeders in the buddleia and the birds love it. It's a joy to sit with my morning cuppa and watch them pop in and out to take food, we've even had some blue tits come this morning, I love it!
Have yourselves a nice day everyone, Lyn xxx.0 -
Morning all.
I haven't posted in a daily thread for absolutely ages but am trying to bring back a few more OS ways at home and have been reading this board for a few days now
I'm limited as to what I can do but we seem to be spending money like crazy at the minute, especially on groceries and take-out so really need to reign it in. I've just done a meal plan for this week and we have huge amounts of food in the cupboards, fridge and two freezers so I'm hoping not to have to do a shop for a while, other than the butchers.
Hopefully we will soon be back in the swing of thingsThere is something delicious about writing the first words of a story. You never quite know where they'll take you - Beatrix Potter0 -
Good morning everyone :hello:
It's a little bit overcast here this morning but I think it's going to cheer up later. The first load of washing is on and I want to do some baking today.
Well my adventure in preparing fish did not go well:o:o. I freaked out when I took the little sardines out of their bag and started crying. The girls were laughing their heads off and in the end my 12 year old took pity on me and gutted them and took their heads and tails off. She'd never done anything like this before and I was so proud of her. I managed to wash and cook them and we ate them for lunch. I think next time I will just open a tin :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:.
It's my hubby's turn to cook on the weekends so I will enjoy my time off. I think he's cooking gammon and chips for himself and the girls today and roast beef tomorrow. I have a huge load of cauliflower cheese soup to package up for the freezer. I will make a chicken soup this week as well.
Hope you all have a lovely day today whatever you are up to, happy birthday to Mr HH too, take care xx0 -
Morning all,
Bit bleak looking here again. Washing on the line.
lillibet - I was googling Rick's recipies this morning as I fancied some of them. Didn't think of reserving the book at the library...
DH is being a bit stroppy, its a shame as he always does it when we get back from holiday. He wants to up sticks and move abroad, and I don't so he gets moody for a few days after our return. Still at least he is off to watch football this afternoon, I just hope they don't lose!
Off to visit dad in a while, other than that nothing else planned.
Happy Saturday all0 -
Good morning everyone.
Happy Birthday to Mr HH.
TA I do hope that you can get some more constructive help on Tuesday, as it is very worrying when you see a loved one who is ill.
It is very grey here and has just started raining again. I have just put a load on the line, so will probably have to bring it in in a minute, will see if it stops again.
DH is out on appointments at the moment, so don't know when he will be back DS is working later today, so I'm sure he will be up soon and don't know when DD will get up.:)
I must get a move on and do some hand washing and get on and give the house a good clean.
As DH is out with the car, I am having my shopping delivered this evening which will make a change. Not sure what to cook for dinner I will have a browse on the interweb soon for some inspiration.
Have a good day everyone.:):)SPC 11 #4450
