Staining tanalised timber

Options
Hi.At our caravan we have some timber decking alongside the van with spindles and a handrail.
Would it be possible to use B&Q,s own woodstain straight onto this wood as i think its tanalised wood and im not sure if i would have to treat it with something else first. Many thanks

Tanalised timber can be treated no problem.

The only concern with treating decking, is that most common preservatives from the sheds (and especially their own branded stuff), are really meant for fences and sheds and don't penetrate the timber much, but merely coat it. It does a good job, but the problem with decking, is that the coating will wear off the top unevenly as the decking is used, and after a while it looks tatty and patchy.

Best to use a proper deck oil (or similar solvent based oil) as this will soak into the timber and not just coat it
  • Thanks.I do actually have some ronseal decking oil for the floor, but ordinary wood stain for the spindles and hand rails.

Then the only issue is matching of the final colours, as the timber will possibly dry a different shade after treatment if different treatments are used. May or may not be a big deal
