Electric Blanket

I am looking to buy an electric blanket (king size) and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations?
There are so many different makes and I don't know which are any good. I'm not looking for anything very fancy, maybe a timer function but this isn't a "must have".
Any recommendations?
thanks

There's quite a few features you might want to consider.
Is this for a single person or a couple where you both want different temperatures? I prefer a lower heat whilst my OH prefers a slightly higher heat. Dual controls may be important.
A timer isn't very fancy it can save you money on running costs. All you really need is heat for a short period of time whilst you are falling asleep once you're asleep it can turn off by itself.
Do you want it to be soft or do you have a sheet thick enough so you can't feel the cables?
If you're looking for the cheapest then £25 will buy you the silentnight essentials double blanket from Argos with nothing fancy and it works quite well. It'll fit on a king size bed but you can spend £30 and get the king size version if you wish. I've bought this one myself and it's fine but 10 years later it's now due for replacement. You shouldn't use a blanket over 10 years old.:footie:Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)

Thanks for your reply
We were bought one before a long time ago and unfortunately I don't know what make it was as I would have bought the same again as it was good. We don't use it now due to a different bed size. It was thick enough that you could use it as a mattress protector but you could still feel the wires through it. I suppose I would like one that fits on the bed the same way, if possible.
Another good point was that it went in the washing machine and tumble dryer.
It's for a couple who like the bed the same temperature, just preheated before getting into bed then turned off once we're in.
I once heard of one that you could set via timer eg if you knew you were going to be home at midnight (and going straight to bed) you could set it to come on at 11:30 so the bed would be warm when you got in. I liked the sound of this!
We wouldn't be wanting it on all night or once we're in.0 -
I bought a Silentnight fleecy double (feels much nicer than a standard fabric one), earlier this year, but only tried to see how it warmed up (quickly as it happened), because the weather wasn't cold enough.
However,I notice that Tesco have the king size at £27, while the double is actually dearer at £30,but they have a current double up on Reward points , so it would cost only £10 in points plus £7.
Previously I bought one from Aldi and had to take it back as it was slow and barely warmed up.
Note the actual size of blankets as there is no standard size, though they are referred to as single, double or king sized. Ours is a double but is much larger than the double returned to Aldi.0 -
I bought this last year, it is excellent:

Ok I found out that our previous one was dreamland, think the equivalent on is sleepwell now. Does anyone know of anywhere selling them a bit cheaper than Boots, Argos etc?
I will have a look at the other suggestions now, thanks for all the help0
