[New Build] Living next to a motorway

  • The noise would seriously affect my quality of life, I would not even consider it. But I guess as others said, different people prioritise different things. Be honest with yourself about how much it troubles you. Better to regret the house you didn't buy that the house you did!

I once went to look at a house that backed onto the A316, and the noise in the garden was horrendous. The owners insisted that they didn't notice the noise, but it was too much for me.

In my halls of residence at uni I lived in close proximity to 2 motorways! I always had the window open and could just about hear the noise, but it was just background noise - just like living a few streets away from the tube (overground part of the tube) now.

Be glad you're not my friend who has the railway and tube line literally at the end of her garden! A very busy line coming out of Paddington!
