Well until there are no jobs left to fill does not matter how many are looking does it? The fact is there are jobs if you want one ... Not what poster possibly wants but there are jobs !

If you read back, it seems that OP's wife DID have a job. I do find it odd to give up a stable position when your partner doesn't have one and you just had a third child.
  • Why have children when you know you can't afford to support them ? £500 a week is more than most people take home from a full time job. Benefits have become a farce.

Caught out by their previous posts...whoops!

That sentence always winds me up, you can't guarantee financial stability for 18 years when you have kids, at best you can plan for the next few years. Things can happen that are out of your control, which is why it's great we have our welfare system to protect us from being thrown into absolute poverty when the worst happens...

Why do you think tax credits are going to be stopped after two children? Because whereas those who earn enough not to be eligible did consider their financial stability for the next 18 years before deciding to have another child (and therefore usually giving up on the idea of another child after 2 or 3), those reliant on benefits were much less likely to consider their financial situation into account, not surprisingly since going for that 3rd child meant more money.

Of course things can happen and some people able to support themselves can find themselves struggling, but if they have the work experience and some level of education behind them, and they really believe in the value of supporting themselves, that need for welfare is usually very short-termed.
  • In June you talk about a DRO being best for you to pay off debts, in July you are talking about having a Samsung S3, and buying an Iphone 5C. Personally I'd have put paying off debts and paying for food (frozen veg or not) higher on the list.

You might need to rearrange your priorities.., and/or getting the job you say you will get soon in June. Its now September. If you can't get a job, you need to be more realistic with your expectations.

I know this will sound like a personal attack, but it is serious advice. I fancy a new phone, but knew my income was going down so just got a cheap giff gaff sim to continue using my old phone. It works, and it costs me a lot less. One less thing to worry about.
